Building Domain Specific AI Assistants

Domain Specificity and Artificial Intelligence

Domain specificity in relation to artificial intelligence refers to systems designed and trained to excel within a particular domain or field of knowledge.

For example, there could be domain-specific AI applications in healthcare, finance, agriculture, automotive industry, customer service, and many other fields.

However, to make domain-specific AI applications it usually involves training models on large datasets specific to the target domain, fine-tuning algorithms to optimize performance for domain-specific tasks, and incorporating domain knowledge into the design of the AI system.

This imposes significant barriers for many potential users who have neither the financial resources nor technical knowledge to build such systems.

But not all domain specific AI applications need this level of training or optimization.

Essentia AI Chat Assistants

An easy way to make a domain specific AI assistant is to use Essentia AI project containers along with its AI chat embedding script.

The process is very simple. Simply upload all your domain specific knowledge such as journal articles, textbook pages, manuals, etc, into a specific project container.

Essentia AI will process all the text data from your pages and store them in its database which is integrated with an LLM (large language model).

At this point, you can download the chat script for your project and place the code into any webpage you want to make the information available.

Although the AI assistant has not been exclusively trained on the specific domain material, by limiting the scope of the source data from which it can draw its answer from, you effectively have a domain specific application that can answer questions and provide summaries about a specific field of knowledge.

You can make any number of different project containers with Essentia AI, so can essentially create a variety of domain specific AI assistants that can be embedded into different web applications.
